Overview of Role
We are seeking a hands-on IT Operations & Systems Administrator to take ownership of our internal IT environment. This role is responsible for day-to-day IT operations, end-user support, Microsoft 365 administration, network and endpoint management, and the continuous improvement of the organization’s cybersecurity posture. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical problems, improving systems, and proactively strengthening the reliability and security of IT services across the organization.
The role will be based in Saskatoon, SK.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & End-User Support
Provide support for end-users and workstations throughout the organization
Manage employee onboarding and offboarding (accounts, devices, access control)
Act as a primary point of contact for internal IT issues and escalations
Maintain IT documentation, procedures, and asset inventories
Coordinate with external vendors and service providers as required
Microsoft 365 Administration
Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including:
Azure AD / Entra ID
Exchange Online, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive
User, group, license, and permissions management
Implement and maintain security best practices such as MFA and Conditional Access
Support email security, retention policies, and data governance
Network & Infrastructure Management
Oversee and maintain network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPNs)
Monitor network performance, reliability, and security
Ensure backups and basic disaster recovery practices are in place
Endpoint & Device Management
Manage endpoint protection and antivirus/EDR solutions
Ensure operating systems and applications are patched and up to date
Administer device management tools (e.g., Intune or similar)
Enforce security policies on company-owned devices
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Continuously assess and improve the organization’s cybersecurity posture
Implement and maintain practical security controls, policies, and best practices
Lead initiatives such as:
Security awareness and phishing training
Vulnerability management
MFA rollout and enforcement
Least-privilege access controls
Business Applications & IT Software Administration
Administer and support the company’s broader IT software and SaaS ecosystem
Manage user access, permissions, and integrations
Assist with software selection, implementation, and optimization
Monitor usage, licensing, and costs
Qualifications & Skills
Required
5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a similar role
Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration or equivalent practical experience
Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 in a business environment
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP)
Experience managing endpoints, patching, and security tools
Practical knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
Experience providing direct end-user support
Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Nice-to-Have
Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA Network+ or Security+, networking, endpoint, or vendor certifications)
Experience with Microsoft Intune and advanced Conditional Access
Familiarity with Microsoft Defender or similar security platforms
Experience running security awareness or phishing training programs
Exposure to security frameworks (e.g., CIS, NIST) in a practical context
Experience administering common SaaS business applications
