Director, Business Development (British Columbia)

Overview of Role

As Director, Business Development, you will be an important member of our team. This role has dual responsibilities. Primarily, you will build and lead our firm’s business development efforts in British Columbia, marketing our alternative investment fund to financial advisors, family offices and institutions using your own well-established network, targeted prospecting and focused marketing initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for deal origination across North America in identifying acquisition opportunities that fit our private equity practice.

You have an energetic, sales-oriented personality and enjoy working with people and building relationships. With an excellent working knowledge of traditional and alternative investment strategies, you are able to clearly communicate with prospects and identify new business opportunities.

As Director, Business Development, you will work closely with the Senior Vice President, National Sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and execution of all aspects of our strategic sales and marketing plan for Westbridge Capital investment funds to third party advisors and other investment channels.

  • Primary responsibility is for developing a business development pipeline for the firm including identifying prospective clients and centres of influence and engaging these entities on the firm’s investment strategy with a mandate to grow the firm’s assets.

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of sales and marketing materials as well as strategic planning of marketing initiatives.

  • Source deal origination for Westbridge Capital’s private equity practice through proprietary origination in addition to engaging and cultivating relationships with Accountants, Lawyers and M&A professionals across North America.

  • Liaising with other members of the firm to assist with the firm’s business development objectives and other administrative functions, as required.

  • Contribute to the firm’s overall leadership, strategic planning, and cultural development.

Profile of Ideal Candidate

You possess a university degree and completion of relevant investment designations (CFA, CIM, CAIA). Advanced degrees in Business are also considered an asset. You have excellent written and verbal presentation skills and a willingness to do the little things, behind the scenes.

You have significant experience (10+ years) in a business development role, ideally in the fund wholesaling ecosystem with exposure to alternative strategies. Experience in private client wealth management or institutional relationship management would also be considered a significant asset.

You enjoy working in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment and are a high energy, self-motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative team player, who is willing to roll up their sleeves and grow as Westbridge continues to expand.
